A new look for Alternatives.ca

A new look for Alternatives

I didn't come up with the design... I only applied it to their SPIP site.

I didn't come up with the new design... I just (recreated it and) adapted it for Alternatives' SPIP generated website. I will try to find the name of the person who did it in order to give proper credit.

Afghanact.org - Afghan Peace & Democracy Act

Afghanact.org Screencapture

This is a slightly modified version of the theme that I had developed for this site. Honestly, I preferred my version... all the blue gets to be a little overwhelming.

One of the projects I was involved in while working at Alternatives was the creation of a portal for the Afghan Peace & Democracy Act, a network of Afghan and Packistani NGOs, mostly women's groups, working towards peace and democracy for Afghanistan.

CMAQ - Sortir de la pensée unique!

CMAQ Screencapture

The CMAQ.net, also known as quebec.indymedia.org, is open publishing platform that created through the dedicated collaborative efforts of a wide range of indiivuals and groups in Quebec.

I am one of the founding members of the CMAQ collective and have been part of the tech tech team since it's inception.

Comité logement Rosemont | Un toit pour tous le monde !

Screencapture of Comité Logement Rosemont website

Here's a site that I helped develop for the Comité logement Rosemont, located here in Montreal.

CryptoMail.org - Encrypted Email Software, Secure Email Software, Free Secure Email Service, GNU Open Source Software

From their site....

CryptoMail.org devotes its energy to promote the freedom of private communications. By developing and distributing an end-to-end secure Email system under the GNU General Public License, we hope to inspire the most talented programmers around the world to help create a secure environment for people to exchange information over the Internet.

Objectives

The main objective of CryptoMail.org is to provide a community where programmers who share our vision, give the most accessible, reliable, and secure communications tools to people. We will focus on developing, distributing, maintaining and serving the most secure end-to-end Email system for the Internet community. We want everyone to access secure Email services, thus we develop an Email system that allows people to use or host the system on almost any computer and platform. We provide this secure Email system by ensuring two key security features:

Security at the Transport Level

All communications between the user and the server are done by a way of an encrypted session. This discourages eavesdroppers at the network layer.

End-to-End Message Security

Exchange of messages within our Email system employs a message layer encryption using a hybrid symmetric and public/private key scheme. This effectively prevents anyone from reading the contents of the message except the intended recipient.

Here's a site that I help develop in conjunction with McGill University's School of Urban Planning.

FCABQ 2004 - Fédération des centres d'action bénévole du Québec

FCABQ 2004

Here is the website that I did for the FCABQ. It is based on the graphic design for their 2004 "À vous de jouer" campaign. This will soon be replace by a new look that I am currently developping based on their 2005 promotional material.

FCABQ 2005: A new look

FCABQ 2005: This year's new look.

This is a another Drupal theme that I developed. It is loosely based on some of the marketing material produced for the Fédération des centres d'action bénévoles du Québec by Kawabunga (i.e. the photos at top-right and the "l'action bénévole" logo).

Honestly, I don't find it nearly as nice as last years look/theme, but hey, you work with what you get.

Hushmail - PGP Compatible Secure Free Email - About

It's essentially like encrypted Hotmail. From their site...

"Hushmail is a Web-based e-mail service that lets you send and receive email in total security. Hushmail messages, and their attachments, are encrypted using Open PGP standard algorithms. These algorithms, combined with Hushmail's unique key management system, offer users unrivalled levels of security. Hushmail's security is end-to-end; messages are encrypted before leaving the sender's computer and remain encrypted until after they arrive on the recipient's machine, where the contents are automatically decrypted.
Hushmail's encryption works automatically, transparently and seamlessly, requiring no specialized computer skills or knowledge.

m2014 - Countdown to the revolution | It's just a matter of time...

m2014 Screencapture

This site deserves a better and more prominent resting place. But we have plenty of time to get that done...

Mon appart, mes droits! - Un guide pour les jeunes locataires qui veulent en connaître plus sur leurs droits

monappart.ca - screencapture

Yet another theme for yet another Drupal-generated website.

This is yet another Drupal-generated website that I created. The difference this time is that I actually had an existing document (PDF) to base it on and I was asked to make it so that it would/could easily be integrated into another Drupal site that I created, the Comité logement Rosemont website.

Rooftopgardens.ca

Rooftopgardens.ca Screencapture

Yup, yet another Drupal-powered website that I threw together (with the help of a couple content people).

"The Rooftop Gardening Project promotes utilisation of roofs for food production and urban green space development, aiming to create an environment that brings health and well-being to the community. The project will develop and experiment with soil-less growing techniques that are ecological, economic and applicable to roofs, balconies, walls and other small urban spaces."

SociétéCivile.cd: Le portail de la société civile en RDC

This was one of the first Drupal themes/skins that I worked on while at Alternatives.ca.

The map in the background was generated using some GIS software.

Way back in day when I still used proprietary HTML editors like Frontpage and Dreamweaver. Fortunately, those days are over ;-)

WestPAN: Canada's West Papua Action Network

WestPAN: Canada's West Papua Action Network

Yet another Drupal website I did.

Based in Canada, WESTPAN is an informal network of individuals concerned about injustice in West Papua, and the associated destruction of unique cultures and rare ecosystems.

I helped them upgrade and redesign their website. (It was previously using a very antiquated version of Drupal.)
